Sinait is the northern most town of the Province of Ilocos Sur, bounded by Badoc Ilocos Norte in the North, by Cabugao in the South, by the Ilocos coastal range in the East, and the South China Sea in the West.
The municipality is classified as the third class based on its income, with 44 barangays. Sinait being located along the National highway and very accessible by all kinds of vehicles, it is also popularly known as the Garlic Center of the North. Having the biggest volume of sales of its exotic product, garlic otherwise known as “Bawang” in the native tounge. Furthermore, as the industry became brighter, garlic trading center eventually was established.
Aside from the historical landmarks, tourist spots in town, the most attraction here is the shrine of “Apo Lakay.” It is found at San Nicolas de Tolentino Parish Church, the home of miraculous Sto. Cristo Milagroso. Devotees, pilgrims and other religious groups from all places flock in town to pray for their special intentions and spiritual healing to the miraculous image of Apo Lakay.
With these attractions, accompanying to unofficial survey, seeking of health care assistance has been included in the people’s purposes coming to Sinait. There are also existing health facilities in the area that cater to the health care needs of the people from the neighboring town of Ilocos Norte like Badoc, Pinili, Nueva Era, Currimao and Paoay and of Ilocos Sur are Cabugao, San Juan and Magsingal. The health facility is a potential for Level II Hospital with a 50 bed capacity, based on the standards, rules and regulation and permit to construct has been granted for further development. The hospital has specialists residing within the vicinity that can respond readily to the health care needs of the community in which the existing hospitals within the area do not cater.
The hospital is only around 5-10 km radius to and from the towns of Badoc, Pinili, Curimao, Paoay, Nueva Era, Cabugao, San Juan and Magsingal to prove its accessibility and feasibility within several towns. Wherein these group of potential patients go as far as Vigan City, Ilocos Sur and Batac City, Ilocos Norte just to be seen by specialists in which Sto.Cristo Milagroso Hospital offers and eyes for a potential Tertiary Hospital with advanced technology in the future.
